Weber told detectives that he believed the gun was not loaded at the time. He said he was “experienced at handling firearms” and “handled several different types/calibers of firearms for several years”, according to WPTV.

One of these statements might be true, but both of them cannot be. Any firearm is loaded. Period.

And it should never be pointed towards someone.

Or towards yourself. Why was this even loaded? Or a prop gun if you felt you needed this for your act? Which is creepy anyway.

I know we don’t kink-shame, but seriously! Who took “gun-wanking” to it’s logical conclusion? And why??

I question the use of logically in this context.

Gun porn is definitely a whole thing. Perceptions of power, security…to folks of a certain political persuasion…well. Sometimes the OG was on point.

That’s fractal: it’s equally fucked up from every frame of reference and at every scale.

How is it that the most brilliant, kind and responsible child in the world still isn’t afforded the same legal rights as an adult but a child who fucks up badly enough can be legally saddled with the same level of accountability as an adult?

Because a ratchet only moves in one direction.

Of course, the direction isn’t the same for everyone.

This. The ways in which the media and law enforcement describe children they want to be perceived as / treated like adults, those they consider to be mentally ill, and the ones who are to be prosecuted with severity or leniency - are telling.

Was it a Bushmaster?

That sounds like a kid who is pretty disturbed, but who has been inadequately served by society. Sounds like he had little idea of the permanence or impact of what he was doing. And that’s assuming that his “confession” isn’t just police fabrication. What lawyer would let that kid talk during an interrogation? If he even had a lawyer present.

Putting him in prison isn’t going to make anything better, but it will certainly make things much, much worse.

Yeah sure, keep a revolver in the same house with a kid who has a very long history of rage issues. That sounds really smart.

Not excusing what the kid did but holy fucking shit was the parent(s) did wasn’t great either.
