Nobody was injured in the ordeal, but Chief Wilfred Blanchette announced Thursday the department—that was founded just this month—would eat the cost of $20,000 to replace the Sig Sauer P320s carried by its 35 officers. “I don’t feel comfortable with our officers maintaining these guns,” Blanchette said Thursday, according to Police1 . Sig Sauer has been under fire recently for producing guns that appear to fire on their own, with dozens of officers filing a slew of lawsuits against the gun maker this year, including the cop involved in Monday’s incident.
Last year that same firearms company got a huge contract to produce the US Army’s next service rifle so um, yeah that company’s recent reputation is a bit concerning.

Holmes said Serabi’s mother previously was shot and killed and the father was raising Serabi on his own after his wife died. Kelley told the Sun-Times that Serabi’s mother was fatally shot in Austin in 2018.

The boy’s mother, however, Deja Taylor, has been charged with felony child neglect and misdemeanour recklessly leaving a loaded firearm as to endanger a child.
In June, she was also charged with unlawfully using a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm and making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.
