Unfortunately, that’s probably already sorted out: it would be insult to injury if they also managed to extract a bunch of the money and squirrel it away in some opaque web of Nevada shell corps or a PO box in some sunny British protectorate; but, even if their accountants and finance guys are innocent little lambs who would never do a thing like that, all you have to do to put someone else on the hook is make a mistake so expensive that even liquidating all your assets wouldn’t pay for it; which seems increasingly likely in this case.
