I was wondering how hard it is for an American to get a resident visa for Australia (answer gleaned from 1 minute of research: it depends), but it sounds like he’s there as a visitor, not a prospective immigrant, at least according to his father.
There is, sadly, a pathway for the very wealthy to get residency here. I have no idea if it’s possible to check what visa class he is under mind you.
Virtually every developed country has a “buy permanent residency” visa. Usually under the auspices of “business development/investment”.
In the US it costs $250K for an individual, $500K for a family.
