It was the most insane press conference I’ve ever seen. They literally sounded deranged, ranting about “communist” money and “Venezuelan” voting machines, and how votes were being counted “in Spain and Germany” and how it all involved the Clintons and George Soros and Hugo Chavez through various shell companies, and it got so fucking convoluted I don’t think even the regular conspiracy theorists were able to keep up. His campaign advisor was literally shaking with rage, crying on stage about the corruption and fraud, all of it managed and run by Joe Biden.
I’ve been alive a long time now. I know politicians lie, and their lawyers lie for them. Usually they are subtle lies, plausible deniabilities, dog whistles, misconstruing facts, cherry picking evidence. I’ve never seen such straight up conspiracy theory bullshit in my life coming from the representatives of a major political figure in this country. Such gutter level lying. And all carried on C-SPAN, which is insane, too. C-SPAN shouldn’t be promoting that sort of stuff.
I’m pretty sure now he knows his only play is to go for the electors, and he needs the court of public opinion to back his play. This was his opportunity, and this sort of behavior is what’s going to lead to violence very soon because millions are hanging off the word of these criminals and are going to swallow every dumb lie they spewed today. I just weep for my country today knowing how many folks are going to swallow that trash and let it infect them. Then spit it back out in any number of ways.
