Rutger Hauer, Blade Runner's Roy Batty, RIP

In Chicago, “bum” is the sound made while breathing…

Into the universe and beyond, farewell!

The Blood of Heroes is seriously good. The international version has a different, and I think better, ending than the American one.

Oh, and if you can find it, Split Second is outrageously fun.

I just watched that few weeks ago, burning that school bus full of children alive with the flamethrower and then throwing their meat charred skeleton in front of the TV Camera was too over-the-top.

The decapitation scene at the beginning with the barbed wire noose and the hooker dancing suggestively in the blood spray from the neck hole was also over the top.

Basically the whole movie was over the top, kinda disgusted me which is quite a feat. Rutger Hauer’s acting was phenomenal though

You’re thinking of the porno parody, “Gun in the Bum”.

Does anyone else remember his guest appearance on Lexx?

Damn.

RIP.

(Also damn it that apparently there seem to be no good Ladyhawke gifs to be readily found…)

I was about to say that. Roy Batty died in 2019, Rutger Hauer died in 2019.8c6
That said, its a bloody shame. He was a pretty good actor with a great physical presence.

School pals and I watched this when it first came out… almost strictly because Keith Emerson scored it.

It was written and directed by David Webb Peoples, who also co-wrote the screenplays for Blade Runner and Ladyhawke and several other quality films.

That one scared the heck out me when a young teenager. Great actor, sad he has past on.

One of my favorites of his was Soldier of Orange. Filmed in Dutch. Very good.

Remember this quote when this democracy falls.

Again, something that I’m almost ashamed to admit, but this has been done.

One of the characters has a machine gun butt. This genre is basically the Japanese version of the old school Troma studios stuff (Toxic Avenger etc…) with no apparent improvement in quality of special effects over the intervening decades.

Crazy that, of these two, James Hong is the one still alive.
