Sam Clovis, Trump's pick for USDA chief scientist, called progressives 'race traders' and 'race traitors' online

I’m pretty sure it’s the flag for Cracker Barrel.

Isn’t Clovis one of Donald’s better choices? I mean, given that he’s always attracted only the worst people…

i laughed out loud when it was blocked!

As an ex-scientist. :sob: with contacts to people in the US, I mostly ask them questions and engage in discussions.

I recently had the pleasure to listen to a Nobel laureate from the US who gave a quite spontaneous and emphatic speech to young scientists, asking them not to give up hope, and also to engage with the public. He had far more impact on them than I do, but I try to do my little part. And I fight my own little fights, against quackery, “alternative” medicine and pseudoscientific approaches - especially if they have an ideological background leaning to the far right. Here, in German-speaking countries, the undercurrent of racist views in “alternative” medicine is especially critical for me, and I try to highlight it whenever I talk to people who might inadvertently buy into that sort of bullshit. Rudolf Steiner’s ideology is one of the classics I often try to bring to people’s attention who are fans of Waldorf schooling, anthroposophical medicine, and bio-dynamic agriculture. This starts in my own family.

I hope that answers your question?
Now, what about this guy? What can we, including me but not limited to myself, do about some racist being in a powerful science-related position?

And have journalists asked him about that bullshit and reported on it?
