Sarah Sanders now requiring applicants for Arkansas state boards to write out what they admire about her

She’s managed to successfully delude convince herself that the misogynists “leading” the Republican party wouldn’t make her a Handmaid if they succeed in turning the United States into the Republic of Gilead.

She shares this trait with the representative from Georgia’s 14th and with Lauren Boebert.

I’m not sure this is as cool as you think it is. I’m someone who is asked to provide references frequently. If I don’t think I can give a reference that will help the person, I tell them that. I don’t want to lie on their behalf nor do I want to poison the well for them. And perhaps saying no (and the reasons why) will give them some perspective and help them do better in the future.

Yes, that was what it reminded me of, too. The video of the hollow effusive praise heaped on T**** by everyone in his meetings was disturbing.

There’s the “damning with faint praise” approach.

“Bob is punctual and always appropriately dressed for the workplace.”

Could have been worse. 500 could have been the minimum (I’m sure they considered it)

You can slip a little fascism into government hiring documents, nobody will notice. The “best” candidates will obviously fill that field with fawning nonsense. They have to have some process for finding the world’s worst people.

I like the “Bob has great potential. Would I hire him again? That’s a great question which I get asked frequently but if I had a time machine I would go back and choose a winning lotto ticket. Har har.”
And move on to the next question.

Don’t do this crap. Go after someone for their incompetence at the job, their ineptitude, their total devotion of fascism, but stuff going after someone for their weight or appearance, even if you think it’s their “fault” or a flaw. You can’t find something real about the person that’s a problem?

Your unfortunate uncertainty is quite understandable. You were not there, and therefore know nothing of all events leading up to the reference request, and you did not have any interaction with the fellow during those two years. But please put your mind at rest and not fret over how I handled the request. And I promise not to offer you advice on how you should handle such situations. Capisce?

Seems weird to try the cult of personality crap around a person with so little charisma. I hate her old asshole boss with a passion I can barely contain, but I will admit that trump could be charismatic at times. She took some weird lessons from her time in Washington.

Really? Not seeing it.

I’m definitely not moved by him but he has the ability to make people look at him. I guess I think of charisma as neither good nor bad exactly, just the ability to grab and keep attention on themselves. Some people love the charismatic one, some hate them but can’t look away, like a wreck. Charles Manson was charismatic, so was Jim Jones, trump is in that vein, in my opinion.

Trump has no charisma. Trump has bullshit and a lot of money. He injects himself into things by buying his way in. That’s not charisma. That’s privilege.

Maybe 40 years ago he had some. But he long ago lost it. I’ve seen nothing in the last decade but a doddering, narcissistic, grifting old asshole rich enough to ensure he’s never held responsible for anything he does. He is no different than many rich old white conservative men.

Brings to mind the old maxim: “A poor man is crazy, but a rich man is just ‘eccentric.”
