Who needs science when you have free market jesus.

It’s pretty redundant when the President knows more about those topics [1] than the staffers possibly could.

[1] And on top of that is a very stable genius.

This must be the most depressing figure yet out of this maladministration. It’s no secret that he has targeted science on every level, but I had no idea that he had been this effective. 85%???

To be fair, this is talking about administrative positions in offices dealing with science policy. Which are important to a degree, but this isn’t talking about 85% of actual scientists working at the NIH, FDA, CDC, etc.

Thankfully none of the NSF, NIH, CDC, etc jobs are appointed by or under the discretion of the White House. Its 85% of science positions that the white house controls.

Its extremely depressing and a terrible indicator of the government’s values, but like much of Trump’s awfulness its at least transparent. Other republicans would fill the positions and then just completely ignore their input

Sounds less like the offices are being closed, and more like people can’t stand to work there anymore and no one wants to replace them.

He is trying for a greatest hits collection of every despot on his dream board. This is his way of showing tribute to Mao. Tho Mao would probably have less than kind things to say about his real estate holdings…

Science is for traitors, citizen. Move along.

Trump has no use for an organization whose core purpose involves getting to the facts.

So if Trump’s scientific policy was a Ramones song it would be The Cretin Hop

Can’t be wrong if there’s no data to show that you’re wrong!

85 percent of all scientific posts in the federal government… were left unfilled,

And the 15% filled positions were all coal lobbyists.

We would not have antibiotics were it not for the USDA, which Secretary Sonny Perdue has just embarked on gutting.

The result is the same, as any HR manager at a large corporation will smugly tell you. There are many ways to get rid of a competent and diligent employee who isn’t a good “culture fit”.

They’re being replaced with telephone sanitizers, account executives, hairdressers, TV producers, insurance salesmen, personnel officers, security guards, public relations executives, and management consultants.

Trump as a Maoist. Interesting. I have always thought of him as a Stalinist, along with most of his policy and personnel infrastructure.

Tramp’s admin is doing its best to build a sicker, dumber, more fragmented, less productive and effective America. Is that MAGA-type greatness? Whose interests are advanced? Hint: Putin.
