All this sensibility is making me suspicious, and at the same time, regretful that I live on the east coast.
Hopefully this sudden gust of sanity will flow eastward like fresh air after the wildfires.
Seattle certainly isn’t as liberal as we like to pretend, but I’m pretty damned proud my city is doing this.
As has been pointed out by many people, the big problem is that most drug convictions are at the state level, so clearing them at the municipal-crime level doesn’t make a big impact. California and Oregon are the only states (so far) that allow people to clear pot convictions from their records, and California only passed their law LITERALLY TODAY. It’s a pity states where pot is now legal have been this slow to clear people with existing convictions.
