From new articles, his parents apparently put a GPS tracker on his car and notified police almost immediately. Sounds like they knew this guy was going to do something.

He killed 8 women and 6 were Asian. The police officer could be correct that the murders weren’t racially motivated, but the killer definitely has a problem with WOMEN. That seems like a hate crime in and of itself. The killer should spend the rest of his life in jail regardless of if it was a hate crime or not.
