Six reasons why some people refuse to stay home during a pandemic

I don’t think it’s genetic. It’s cultural. The west coast, where I live, is full of people who want social funding of not just a safety net but health care and education. Sure, there are country folk out in eastern Oregon who want the communists to keep their damn hands off their ruggedly individualist government farm subsidies, but they are far from the majority. I grew up conservative and fully indoctrinated into the rugged individualism and conservative learned sociopathy, but I got older, educated, and more mature and less selfish. Not all who grow old, grow up, unfortunately.

I live on the West Coast too (6th generation Californian), and there’s a change of culture and genetics over the decades. The ol’ city folk from back east become the city folk of the new west.

Some of the more conservative folks I know are older, very personally generous, but not governmentally so.

Correct. Libertarian-socialist here, and I particularly loathe the individualist libertarian cohort right now.

As someone else already pointed out, Katie Williams is running for Clark County School district.

I recommend people contact them, with their school closures and all, and ask them if they support a candidate running for school district trustee, flaunting any attempts at quarantine.
