Bullshit. The best “middle ground” for the country is to the left of both parties - but it’s only a little to the left of one of them.
This isn’t opinion - it’s evidence based.

Women are facing life-threatening medical complications after being legally denied basic healthcare and bodily autonomy.
Transgender people are struggling for the legal right to exist in public spaces.
Same-sex couples are facing the prospect that their marraiges could be legally invalidated.
The Republican Governor of Texas is literally arguing that he should be able to murder migrants with impugnity.
Hundreds of Americans are killed or wounded through gun violence every single day and one party is trying to make the problem worse instead of better.
To say American society faces “no problems or threats” is to speak from a position of incredible privelege.
This is a discussion board. You’re free to say pretty much anything you’d like to, as long as it doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines (which I highly recommend reading.)
That having been said-- nobody on this board is obliged to agree with you. We’re here to discuss, and that means people are likely to challenge anyone and anything (again, so long as it stays within the Guidelines.) Our moderator said it very well here:
You’re free to challenge us from a centrist point of view, if you’d like (within the rules, of course.) But it is not intolerance if we disagree. I’m not incredibly fond of centrism myself, as there are certain rights and privileges I’m unwilling to compromise on… but I’m willing to listen to politely-phrased arguments from that viewpoint.
(It’s been my experience that centrists aren’t always as “centrist” as they think: my more middle-of-the-road cousin and I agree on many things, despite my being much further to the left politically than he is.)
In addition to every single issue Brainspore brought up above, Americans also have to deal with poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, racism, sexism, lack of affordable and/or accessible healthcare, crumbling infrastructure, inflation/corporate greed…
If you’ve never had to experience much of that, then in my opinion, yes, you are privileged. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; I’ve been fairly lucky in life myself. It did (and still does) mean I’ve had a lot to learn about how others experience the world around me. Being here and listening to others’ posts and perspectives has helped me immensely in that regard. I’m hopeful it can do the same for you, too.

Division is absolutely goddamn necessary to solve the problems here.
I don’t want compromise or middle ground with avowed open fascists. I want them driven to ground and shamed out of any kind of mainstream discourse. I want people angry, hoping mad and ready for action to oppose right wing shenanigans. We’ve been too polite and dependent on “norms” to keep things functional. It doesn’t work. Not anymore.
Division means we are not scared to speak our minds. I fear unity. That means we are afraid to deviate from the group, to show our opinions and fight for them.
