I’ll take the improvement. At least here the first reaction isn’t to draw their weapons. When a weapon is drawn here it’s typically the beanbag gun.
When an officer draws their weapon here they are required to fill out a report.
I’m sure they can just go down the line checking the boxes:

I feared for my life
I believe to the best of my ability I acted appropriately in the situation and find myself guilty of only one flaw: being a goddamn hero.
Not in Canada. All of the provinces are adopting indipendent investigation units that are automatically investigating police involved shootings and other deaths. It’s a much different scenario in this country than the US.

I recall my last such applause, and ironically it involved a bus. The coach driver masterfully piloted a busload of tourists up narrow winding grades on Italy’s Amalfi coast. Upon arrival in Ravello, the passengers applauded. I joined in b/c why not?
I have witnessed unruly passenger ejections on San Francisco public transit. Drivers on the N-Judah streetcars regularly stopped in mid-road, told a miscreant, “Get the fuck off-a my car!” and ‘escorted’ them to a door. Those were the days!
