But who did he lose to? Could be just a more competent facist bastard who knows not to say that shit out loud.

Very true, but it’s a start.

Here’s Feenstra shortly after the blue sweep in 2018:

“What we’ve seen this past week from the new Democratic majority in Congress is appalling. … The President needs effective conservative leaders in Congress who will not only support his agenda, but actually get things done," Feenstra said.

Unfortunately, he will be harder to beat than King in November.

In fact… yes. They’re trying desperately to return to the “we use racist dog whistles in public and save the openly racist stuff for private meetings” party they proudly were before the Yee-hadists and Tea Totalitarians took over.

Considering that Steve King had 9 terms while still being openly racist i would say that Iowa doesn’t give a shit about racism.

There was a tiny window where he’d offended enough people but not quite enough Republicans that he nearly lost in the general. The Republicans figured out he would lose this time so he was replaced so they can hold the seat.

yeah, the guy who beat him is credited with pushing King’s lateness to push for a southern border wall.

So a less openly bigoted asshole is who won? Not exactly progress.

“preference among Republicans for less blatant racists.”

Emphasis mine.

Interesting move considering the top seat in the government contains the ass of a YUGE racist. Are they worried? That would be nice.

The article dances right up to the line of truth, but doesn’t have the gumption to actually cross it.

When the article says “…the conservative lightning rod known for making incendiary comments about immigrants and white supremacy throughout his nearly two decades in Congress,” what it SHOULD say is “known for being explicitly and virulently racist throughout his nearly two decades in Congress.”

When the article says “The challengers argued that King’s loss of clout, even more than his continuous string of provocative and racially-charged statements, was reason enough for turning on him,” what it SHOULD say is “Republican voters in King’s district cared much more about King’s dwindling ability to bring federal pork spending to the district than King’s long-standing and open racism.”

Even if he’s replaced by another racist pro-Trump Republican, getting rid of King is still a good thing.

“The GOP. Even if we can’t spoon feed you racism, we’ll still try to hide it in the mashed potatoes.”

So… what can I do about this competent garbage person replacing the slightly too loud competent person? Or Iowa and other powerful Red States in general? I can’t vote their garbage out. I can’t fix their racist voter suppression systems. I can’t stop the early Presidential primaries and the media love affair with them.

I feel like even if I manage to consume zero products from Iowa, Kentucky, Utah, etc. that has disproportionate power to send corrupt, racist a-holes to run the country who decry socialism yet fill their own pockets with more Fed money than their states produce, I still can make zero difference.

That remains to be seen

Fair. Same rant applies to people like Mitch McConnell, etc.
