If you are of a certain age, you will well remember this clip from the outro sequence of Jay Ward’s George of the Jungle.

When a railroad wanted to dispose of an old or broken engine, it wasn’t terribly unusual to sell it to a promoter who would stage the head-on collision of two trains. It also wasn’t unheard of for a spectator or two to be killed by flying debris.

Yup.

The old TV series Dukes of Hazzard went through a large number of 1969 Dodge Chargers through it’s production run; they had to switch to using 1:8 miniatures near the end of the sixth season, as the cars were getting hard to find. (I wonder why? ) Each car jump in the series was, more or less, a car that was totaled.
