Supercut of Donald Trump sniffing oddly at the first presidential debate

It must be apparent to everyone by now that it’s patently impossible for Trump to punch down.

She actually did a fairly good job of pushing back, shutting him up, and making sure she was heard over his interjections without coming off as shouty. Which was a bit surprising. So far this election she seems to want to go for that epic, inspirational thing. Which she is not good at. The American public seems to like her best (and she seems most comfortable) in conversationally snarky mode. She mostly stuck to that approach, though in places she lapsed into listing off policy details (her geek was showing). It seems to have worked quite well, though it wasn’t quite smoothly executed.

I think its quite likely that now that she has hands on experience in rabid marmot wrangling She’ll be able to pull it off better. In particular there’s bound to be at least one foreign policy specific debates, that’s kind of her best subject. And the portion of yesterday’s debate where she came off best. Its also one of the donald’s many dead zones.

That “well listen to what you just heard!” moment was a thing of beauty.

I don’t think it necessarily came off in a way that would undermine her in the live feed. His delivery on those interjections was… childish. Smug, even panicked in spots.

Just add a chess clock to this to switch the mics on and off and it’s perfect, and they can’t blame the moderator for how they use their time.

I believe it. Neurodiversity means that you’re going to always have outliers like Trump. These people exist. I feel we sometimes leap to the ‘<100% sane’ explanation because it helps us make sense of the person’s actions. We see this conjecture in the press after every mass shooting: ‘Oh, he was just a crazy loner’ or ‘That guy was just off his meds’. People seem to find it very difficult that someone can totally be in their right mind and deliberately act this way. But they exist and more will be on the way.

This is why personality disorders are placed on a different axis in the DSM. They’re not insane. (Okay, schizotypal might be perceived as being on the fringe of sanity.) They just represent the extremes of normal human behavior.

Actually I was refering to the Cab Calloway song.

Dude… I briefly dated a guy once… until I realized that he was not living on the same plane of reality as the rest of us. And I immediately bailed because that’s a total deal breaker.

It was a small thing that caused the revelation; maybe even petty, but it was a huge red flag to me, one that I did not ignore.

We were watching a movie, one I’ve seen a million times before.

Needless to say we were talking throughout; about halfway through there was a scene where the guy claimed that a character said several lines of dialogue that I knew was not in the movie, to explain his perception of the plot.

So after my initial ‘Wait, what?’ moment I carefully asked him, “Are you sure about that? Let’s rewind it and see.”

Long story short, the guy had invented his own reality, however briefly; and when it was pointed out to him, he just kind of shrugged it off.

And that was the last date we ever had.

Trump is like that on anabolic steroids, pretty much all the time.

Give it a name, but it’s not rational nor in the right frame of mind.

I’ll concede that delusional thinking probably discounts one’s claim to full sanity. Magical thinking, too. This is why I made an exception for schizotypal PD, as they tend to exhibit the sort of cognitive aberrations that you describe.

Out of curiosity, who was the claimed “victor of the debate” with Bush/Gore and Bush/Kerry?

Ultimately, the meaning of this question is whether such ‘debates’ still have an impact on the votes?

With all of the possible versions you could have linked to, why the one with a totally unrelated photo of a white woman’s derriere?

Trump had the best line of the night… in the bathroom before the debate started.

WTF kind of gaurantees? Better cocaine in the green room, or injectables or pill form to avoid the sniffies?

No Opponent?

A greenscreen backdrop with matching Zentai?

What does Rudy want gauranteed?

I didn’t care for the image either but it’s the only one I can find. I don’t know who added that picture or why, but it’s the sound that’s important.

There’s anither version there that has inferior audio and stupid video clips added to it.

If you can suggest a better URL I will gladly replace it.

Hmm. “the truth lies in the middle”…
“Repeatedly”?
“ALL topics”? Are you sure?
nope. don’t recall ever saying that.
You’re clearly not familiar with my commentary.
Projection much?

I hope that’s the case - I keep reading that she let him get away with too many falsehoods, and with him denying things (that he’s most definitely said numerous times), viewers wouldn’t have gotten any facts from watching the debates, especially with the moderator not calling him on anything. I suppose for the voters up for grabs, the facts don’t really matter anyways, it’s just about how the candidates come across.

Probably the truth lies in the middle.
