Guinea pig feasts may explain high rates of deadly parasite in Peru | Science/AAAS | News
Youâre making an assumption that I did not state. I have contempt specifically for people who would not be willing to end a life and cut up an animal to eat meat, not just people who buy meat in a store, which is most of us, or as you state âa large proportionâ. I know that they wouldnât be willing to because I have spoken to a fair number of people who have told me exactly that. I canât tell you how many times Iâve been told âoh, thereâs no way I could kill something, just to eat meatâ; something that makes me think âbut you are, youâre just disconnected from the act!â.
There are a lot of folks for whom buying meat in a store is just a convenience (and these are the people who I donât have a âbeefâ with). Itâs the folks who would ask someone else to shoulder a burden that they wouldnât be willing to bear that I have an issue with.
I wasnât making an assumption, since your original statement didnât say âonly a certain type of styrofoam platter and cling film meat eatersâ. You referred to all of them:
Having said that, I canât really have a problem with people who are too squeamish to actually kill an animal in order to eat it. Though I would definitely have a problem with people who say âHunting is a cruel and barbaric actâ (even for hunters who eat the animals that they hunt) who then go and buy a platter of veal (or beef, or chicken, or whatever) at the supermarket.
just for the record, my wife and i ate guinea pig at different points during a vacation in peru. it was fairly tasty. it really was a lot like rabbit.
