You’re making an assumption that I did not state. I have contempt specifically for people who would not be willing to end a life and cut up an animal to eat meat, not just people who buy meat in a store, which is most of us, or as you state “a large proportion”. I know that they wouldn’t be willing to because I have spoken to a fair number of people who have told me exactly that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told “oh, there’s no way I could kill something, just to eat meat”; something that makes me think “but you are, you’re just disconnected from the act!”.

There are a lot of folks for whom buying meat in a store is just a convenience (and these are the people who I don’t have a “beef” with). It’s the folks who would ask someone else to shoulder a burden that they wouldn’t be willing to bear that I have an issue with.

I wasn’t making an assumption, since your original statement didn’t say “only a certain type of styrofoam platter and cling film meat eaters”. You referred to all of them:

Having said that, I can’t really have a problem with people who are too squeamish to actually kill an animal in order to eat it. Though I would definitely have a problem with people who say “Hunting is a cruel and barbaric act” (even for hunters who eat the animals that they hunt) who then go and buy a platter of veal (or beef, or chicken, or whatever) at the supermarket.

just for the record, my wife and i ate guinea pig at different points during a vacation in peru. it was fairly tasty. it really was a lot like rabbit.
