Am I the only one thinking this is creeping into that “gay men are pedophiles” region? To post that topic with a picture of a child as if to imply it’s pedophilia? If he had a background with ‘gay positive’ videos would you show that? Would you post something about someone who posts about marijuana a lot to imply “drugs is drugs” and show a picture of meth?

So it turns out that Sting used to be the actor who played Barney the Dinosaur, which makes sense, and what else makes sense? as soon as he gets your attention he starts trying to give you tantric sex lessons.
I think the “gay men are pedophiles” thing is just an analogy. I think the issue @timmh is calling attention to is just that juxtaposing the picture of Barney and a child with a column about the actor’s current profession as a sex worker seems like a way of unfairly shaming or otherwise denigrating the guy’s sex work.
If the “gay men” analogy doesn’t work for you, we could analogize to a woman who used to work on a child’s show but now does porn. Would it be unfair, mean, or derogatory to write a column about her porn career illustrated with a still from her interacting with a child in the context of her former career? It does have a whiff of prurient moralism to me, at least.
Though at the same time, I do see the humor in the situation.

Eh he’s a weird prostitute but I guess if people are consenting and like paying money for this that’s on them. As long as I don’t have to have sex with him I guess I really don’t care so long as he’s not raping anyone. His woo penis stuff is weird but so are anti-vaxers and as long as he’s not lying about his STD tests the anti-vaxers are a greater public threat.

Ah, if so then I agree with the basic substance of the point, though I’m not sure bringing that stereotype up helps.
Admittedly, if I saw this on most other forums, I’d worry that was the tone. But BB, both the contributors and the regular commentariat, tend to be pretty progressive and against shaming sex workers. To me the fact that Joyner was both Barney and a sex worker is just really weird. I don’t actually mean to judge him for his line of work.
