Whenever Texas says they want to leave, the feds should cut off all federal funding and close all federal facilities in the state. If they do that, you’ll see Texas suddenly become super patriotic and saying they love the US.
He was sentenced to ten years probation and was supposed to check in monthly with his probation officer. A video surfaced on YouTube showing him drinking (a probation violation) and so he disappeared with his mother.
Then he’s an asshole.
I don’t think that was ever in dispute.
Evidently it is a crime to use tech while brown in Texas.
True. Tech includes:
Solar chargers
Cell phones
Guns
Automobiles
Lungs
Legs
I did find a version of the pack with solar panels on it, but the web page says they don’t make it any more.
Maybe this should be federal law. While exceptions could be made for possible abuse cases or other situations where the parent is a suspect–a professional counselor should be available for those–why would the police not at least notify the parents that their child had been arrested?
Why not have solar panel covered awnings for cars to park under IN a parking lot? That way your car isn’t boiling on the inside during summer and all that wasted empty ground space gets used for something productive.
That’s a really great solution!
I didnt’ come up with it. I just saw it suggested somewhere a few years back. I like it a lot because even though it adds to maintenance costs, it really is kinda genius.
I think you’d have to remove them in winter, at least in areas where it snows.
I can see the snow plow either taking the awning out, or creating a small wall of snow between a car and the plowed roadway.
What about a large pool of molten salt underneath the area, to act as a coolant in summer and as a heat source in winter to melt away the snow?
Usable only in areas where net energy gain over the hot months minus the losses is greater enough than the energy cost of snow removal over the cold times. Still, could be quite some range of latitudes.
By salt, do you mean NaCl?
Um… According to Wikipedia, the melting point of NaCl is ~800°C - yes, that would melt snow quite handily, but I think that would also melt the asphalt.
By salt I mean anything that has a crystalline ionic structure. And, for this application, a convenient melting point, which can be as low as room temperature, and, in case of ionic liquids, even fairly below.
Other phase change materials could also be used.
In this specific case, the material would be used for thermal storage.
@nimelennar, did you really try to ask @shaddack a “simple” question? Don’t you know better?
The police told you why not.
By failing to contact the parents they terrorize both the minor and the parents. When word gets out that further terrorizes those who align with the minor and parents. It’s all about terrorism.
I have high standards…
Sikhs in the UK have an excellent reputation. A number of them run small post offices. There has been more than one occasion when a thief has attempted to raid a post office only to end up on the wrong end of a sword while the police come. I think that should be “in general pacifists till someone tries something”.
His answer was correct, though. The correct thing to do is not to ask a question if you think that you have no idea how complicated the answer might be. It’s like, if you are in a hurry, you don’t ask the rabbi a question about ethics.
Dang that’s overpriced!
It does violate federal law, at least, case law. Police are not allowed to interrogate minor suspects without ‘Extenuating circumstances’ and schools are not supposed to release minors into anyone’s custody without guardian approval. And minors can’t consent, either.
