Where was the good guy?

I thought an armed society was supposed to be a polite society.

Why rely on AI when there’s already a near perfect song:

I was cutting a rug
Down at place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lou
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who
He said, “Hey there, fellow
With the hair colored yellow
Whatcha tryin’ to prove?
'Cause that’s my woman there
And I’m a man who cares
And this might be all for you”
I said, “excuse me?”

I was scared and fearing for my life
I was shaking like a leaf on a tree
‘Cause he was lean, mean
Big and bad, Lord
Pointin’ that gun at me
“Oh, wait a minute, mister
I didn’t even kiss her
Don’t want no trouble with you
And I know you don’t owe me
But I wish you’d let me
Ask one favor from you”

“Oh, won’t you
Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister
And you’ll never see me no more”

Beat me to it, though I was going to go with “which one was the good guy?”

A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the Malamute saloon;
The kid that handles the music-box was hitting a jag-time tune;
Back of the bar, in a solo game, sat Dangerous Dan McGrew,
And watching his luck was his light-o’-love, the lady that’s known as Lou.

My parents were originally going to name me Daniel, which is why I chose Danielle (Dani for short) when I transitioned. My last name is frequently mispronounced as Magoo, thus my username here. My parents specifically decided to not name me Daniel because they thought I would get called Dangerous Dan Magoo or McGrew, because of that poem. Now, why they thought any kids in the 1970s were even going to be aware of that poem, I have no idea, but that’s what they thought. So I just ended up getting picked on for being short. Kids don’t really need much of an excuse to pick on each other.

Clearly they need more guns.

Peak Texas Achieved! Congrats everyone!

Loss of economic.profit, loss of fun, but the guns are fine.

I’m surprised something like this – the shooting part at least – doesn’t happen every year. Looks like last year there was a “rumor” of shooting that was dismissed by police, so that possibly happened, and they did close early that day. Not finding much of anything else prior – maybe there weren’t any, maybe it just didn’t make the news, maybe my google-fu is weak.

Man, the Juggalos are better behaved.

It’s more polite to avoid the public, and hope that your living space has bulletproof walls.

Texas State Fair evacuated after shooting

Texas
(A headline about Texas. Gotta be about a shooting.)
State
(Okay. So not Texas, New York. The state of Texas, so – yep – another shooting, I’d bet.)
Fair
(A whole bunch of gun-toting Texans bunched up together in one place; bound to be a shooting.)
Evacuated
(Tornado? Flooding? Big Fire? Shooting much more likely.)
After
(After. Something must have preceded the event that caused the evacuation. Again… shooting.)
Shooting
(Shooting.)

it strikes me as completely normal that one or two people with guns can disrupt an event with upwards of 200,000 attendees on its busiest days ( 2.5 million in total last year )

why in the world would we need laws to help control such behavior, when we can just ask everyone to practice individual responsibility instead

Are weapons allowed at the fair?

No weapons are permitted on the fairgrounds… However, the fair has allowed attendees with valid handgun licenses to carry their handguns in a concealed manner except for in locations prohibited by law.

that right there is what we call a texas sized however.

In other words, the fairground rules are the same as everywhere else?

Fairgrounds in Texas are subject to the heckler’s veto.
