Thailand's thin-skinned king demands Youtube take down Chaplin's "The Great Dictator"

While I full-heartedly agree that the military junta is a much more serious problem than the king, the lese majesté laws are, as far as I understand it, used by the kings advisory council to silence dissent and to create a certain social climate for unquestioned authorities.
This advisory council is - as far as I remember - headed by a 80something year old pulling the strings, and somewhat opposed to the military. However, they truly seem to hate the redshirts, which they probably have in common with the military?

Also, the balances within the council might be in flux with the new king.

Please correct more if I am wrong on any of those facts.

All in all, we den to agree that a bit more background and a bit less “Lordy, What An Asshole” would be quite appreciated.

This is more of a question for @deerpig. I was simply pointing out that @uglypedro had seemed to me to misunderstand the post. My main editorial comment

was based on my meager understanding of human nature.
