It’s OK to be hopeful that their schtick will wear thin and bite them in the ass, and I think there’s a natural desire to feel better about the shitty state of politics, so we tell ourselves it will bite them in the ass, but never underestimate the stupidity of the American public.

It’s true that they didn’t get nearly the number of congressional seats they were hoping for, especially in the Senate, but they did still win a majority in the House and will use that to cause real damage. And, deprssingly, they actually won the popular vote by a couple of points. I really don’t get this whole “ha, ha, they barely even won!” attitude.
Yes, and a depressing number of local elections, which is where all of the “states rights” arguments are being abused to create shit show local laws and normalizing attitudes toward divisiveness and hate.

The Republican leadership long ago recognised that school boards, town councils, and county commissions are not only places to fight their culture wars but also act as “farm teams” where new talent can be identified and fostered. The donors followed suit.
Meanwhile, the Dem establishment and the party’s big donors continue to view these offices as not worthy of their attention.
