They certainly did at the time; it was quite common1 for men to not want their wives to have access to birth control, and state laws against contraception made this easier.
If polls now show that contraception is normalized (as it ought to be, FFS), one could argue that that is attitude following the law, and not vice versa. This is a thing that has happened in the past w/r to important legal rulings, for example with Loving on mixed marriages. That is why it is important to have a Supreme Court reflecting a wide variety of worldviews. I’m pretty nervous about the prospect of all the Supremes being Christian, as there should always be someone there for whom it is obvious that some or another POV is not just the way it should be. If not Jewish, then Muslim, or Buddhist, or (my preference) Pastafarian.

Bigoted quislings want to distract from what Russia is doing with more of their hatred, so of course they accuse everyone else of paying to pronouns instead of the war. Because they’re not only venal and cruel, they’re also unbelievably unimaginative.
Russia is busy killing people, and America is busy with half its own politicians trying to undermine it, and it is entirely from these bile slugs. It’s amazing how much worse the world is for having them in it.
