CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek, appears to be talking out of both sides of his asshole.
In the internal memo to employees, Chapek emphasized that Disneyâs diverse content is all the public statement the company needs, but according to the Pixar staff, Disney repeatedly removes queer content from projects.
âWe at Pixar have personally witnessed beautiful stories, full of diverse characters, come back from Disney corporate reviews shaved down to crumbs of what they once were. Nearly every moment of overtly gay affection is cut at Disneyâs behest, regardless of when there is protest from both the creative teams and executive leadership at Pixar.â
âEven if creating LGBTQIA+ content was the answer to fixing the discriminatory legislation in the world, we are being barred from creating it.â
The statement also called out Chapekâs memo for pushing his apparent belief that âcorporate statements do very little to change outcomes or minds,â despite the fact that Disney has taken stances against many other causes.
As part of the response to the backlash against Disneyâs silence, the above mentioned asshole promised to donate to LGBTQ+ organizations.
Amidst massive outcry against Disneyâs refusal to speak out against Floridaâs âDonât Say Gayâ bill, CEO Bob Chapek announced yesterday that the company will donate $5 million to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and other LGBTQ rights organizations.
Thankfully, HRC is refusing the money until Disney takes meaningful action.
âThe Human Rights Campaign will not accept this money from Disney until we see them build on their public commitment and work with LGBTQ+ advocates to ensure that dangerous proposals, like Floridaâs Donât Say Gay or Trans bill, donât become dangerous laws, and if they do, to work to get them off the books,â said HRCâs interim president Joni Madison.

Jonathan Shelley of the Stedfast Bible Church in Hurst, Texas can be seen in a disturbing video recently posted to the churchâs YouTube channel going off on a hate-filled rant against LGBTQ people and âfornicatorsâ directed at an audience of small children.
Shelley has declared that gay men are all pedophiles and once celebrated the death of a 75-year-old gay man. Jim Fahy, a member of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Menâs Chorus, was killed when a driver accidentally drove into the Wilton Manors Pride Parade.
âAnd, you know, itâs great when trucks accidentally go through those, you know, parades,â Pastor Shelley said about the tragedy. âI think only one person died. So hopefully we can hope for more in the future.â
âYou say, âWell, thatâs mean.â Yeah, but the Bible says that theyâre worthy of death!â he continued. âThey say, âAre you sad when fags die?â No. I think itâs great! I hope they all die! I would love it if every fag would die right now.â
