What are the chances that it will backfire and purge more older white people than younger minorities who are often targeted by voter registration campaigns?
A bit off-topic, but this kind of assholery makes me think that brazil made the right choice to make voting mandatory and enrolling all its citizens.
I often disagree with that, because it result in many apathetic voters who don’t care about their choices, and it also result in fines and other sanctions for those who don’t jump enough hoops, i.e., mostly poor.
But, now it is clear to me that the alternative is much worse.
So, a lot of kids will start asking their parents who is their teacher friend Dorothy.
Older (especially, poorer) people are the ones who are more likely to have gone through life without needing governmental records, or having lost them, and will also find it harder to navigate the system to try to replace any records if and when needed. Plus, older voters and Republican voters – but I repeat myself – are more likely to vote by mail, another aspect of voting being curtailed.
Make no mistake: BIPOC are the intended target, and of course will be harmed by these laws. But kind of like letting Covid rage in the beginning because it was only hitting ‘urban’ (Democratic) areas at that point, it will come back to bite the Republicans in the butt.

Sorry, Bill. People say “toxic masculinity” precisely because not all masculinity needs to be toxic, and the world does not actually need ass-men, grown or not.
People can be strong and wear high heels while dancing and lovingly wear butterfly face paint while playing gently with their kids isn’t toxic masculinity Bill.
It’s the opposite. A grown ass man would know that.
