I find it funny how right wingers cling to Robert Heinlein but forget that Moon is a Harsh Mistress was staunchly anti-racist. Like even today, its themes regarding biracial people is relevant in America. It’s weird how little has changed in terms of race relations since its publishing. Also, Heinlein was rabidly anti-theist in his closing years. So to see them trying to turn him into only about Starship Troopers is really bad joke.
Edit: I will say though that Robert Heinlein has two bad marks on his life. The first being his constant patronization of women. He’s sexist but not misogynist as he loves women but he rarely gives them agency (Friday sometimes has agency but most times shit is just happening to her in the novel). Second is his homophobia. Oddly, he gives women a pass but I think that ties into his sexism and it’s clear he was homophobic (strongly so) when discussing men and transgender women. So I don’t want anyone to let Heinlein off the hook or defend his record uncritically.
I know it might not literally seem like “hatred of women” but that’s still regarded as a type of misogyny, where you don’t like to regard women as people.
Manchin has said he is a yes, this should neutralize any power Sinema has. This is usually the point where more Repubs come over, but I suspect that may not happen (or not in nearly the numbers usually seen.) But at this point, it should be a done deal. Yay!
According to Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Ryan Clancy, when he tried to visit Waukesha Skateland with his son – both of whom are white – they were let in immediately even though they are Milwaukee residents.
He spoke with the rink’s owner, who said that he has a policy that excludes teenagers who are from Milwaukee but is willing to make an exception for “some people.”

For “some people,” the best kind of people, you know, only the white kind of people can get in here!
a) I can’t believe Skateland is a thing, anywhere anymore.
b) I can believe this racist rink owner is exactly as racist as they appear.
c) Wisconsin:
I’d say WTAF, but Wisconsin is a racist state. My family is all from there, and all my Boomer and older relatives are racist. Like, openly, or obliviously. My dad tries the hardest not to be, but the first black family to move into his neighborhood happened when I was 7 or 8.
Oh, that’s true! White men are the most discriminated against class in all of America… especially the rich ones who used to be President and all his supporters who are just tryign to ethnically cle… I mean, PURIFY America… /s
I haven’t lived there since second grade, but clearly, where we moved to, Twin Cities, ain’t less racist. First black kid in my school was treated like a novelty that first year instead of, you know, a person.
A new bill in Tennessee is looking to amend the laws in the state to make the state’s definition of common-law marriage as one between “one man” and “one woman”.
This provision would allow Tennessee to provide a legal loophole to respecting and accepting gay marriages in the Volunteer State, essentially voiding the Obergefell v Hodges ruling that determined marriage equality as the law of the land.
