A proper penknife has a blade appropriate for cutting quills into pens.
Also kept on of them on my keys for years, about every 10 years or so the spring on the scissors snaps and I need to get a new one
My favorite detail is the constant clicking noise as the guy is always opening and closing the knife. It basically reflects my experience when I moved to Texas and half of the people I worked with were that guy - though they were also the type to refuse wearing pink.
I have both. I don’t even know where the Kershaw is. The opinel is in my pocket.
I hope you don’t mean a new knife. Victorinox will replace that spring, often for free. I’m in that situation now and just haven’t got round to getting it to the nearest official SAK repair centre yet. I’ve got a Champ, so replacing it is not cheap - repair is a no-brainer. I guess a small one (is that an Alox?) might be cheap enough to buy that postage and any repair cost might be much the same or more than the cost of getting a new one.
I didn’t realise they would replace them, and it is the Victorinox Classic SD, so they are usually about £10.
I usually have a knife on my person; I love my HK matte black utility blade, as it’s very useful.
But also I feel no need to go telling everyone in my vicinity about it, either…
I’m the woman that has carried some form of a pocket knife since I spent summers working on my uncles farm in the 70’s. It’s a useful tool for so many things. Most people would never know I had it but my friends always know if needed I’m the one to ask.
Interesting. I was just looking it up and the Classic has a pointed nail file not a flat screwdriver end (on UK website, anyway) and that is £17 (pounds!). For £10 there’s one like yours but with no scissors. One like yours is more like £30ish. But of course these are ‘official’ website prices and are no doubt cheaper on the street.
But do go to Victorinox’s website and see if you have a repair or service centre anywhere near. Given you said £10, I assume you are in UK. The official repair centre is in Leicester. Probably worth calling to see if they’d charge, and checking out postage costs.
Currently £14 on Amazon, I must have picked my last one up on an offer:
Classic SD
Since you guys are talking Swiss Army Knives - this is a cool doc on how they make them and their history.
you forgot Toothbrush
My roommate tends to wear a multi-tool but he is a phone/network wiring guy and actually does have a need for one a lot. Though he mostly tends to wear it while working so there is that.

Loved the video.
Confession: I can be a bit like this. I’m not all that great at “manly” stuff. So when I see someone opening up packaging with a banana and I actually have the correct tool, it’s kind of exciting to be useful.
Confession 2: I enjoy flick opening the blade more than is appropriate.
Confession 3: Alcohol amplified #1 and #2 10x. I’m glad I don’t drink anymore.
So, how do you people without a knife open the signatures of your books?
