ok, but what I dont get is: why not blend it? why not eat: a carrot, some kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, some emon and mint and an apple. just create this “food shake” (since grinding/blending seems so necessary), and drink it?
A lot of people do blend their juices, people who get really really particular about it though dislike blending because the action of blending incorporates a lot of oxygen to the end result which can affect the nutritional value, also if one has a high powered blender it can also heat up the juice to some degree which some also see that as a negative. Certain juicers have mechanisms that work much much slower which keeps heat down and oxygen acting on the juice to a minimum. Personally i don’t care, just saying that for certain people these are factors that they consider.
Try adding more water, if you blend things with a hardier texture with more water you end up with a smooth frothy drink that might be a little viscous but not gritty. I felt the same as you until I had “juice” in Asia and it was just blended fruits and vegetables with more water. Even now at home I avoid leafy vegetables like the plague in a juice, but I love beets and something like plums (no skin).
I think there’s legitimate reasonings for wanting to make juice one way vs the other. Either way it’s not for me to judge how others want to ingest their food, God knows i eat like shit as it is
