The Juicero is an impressive piece of over engineered hardware

perpetuates the myth that because it’s fresh or natural that it automatically means it’s healthy.

This.

There are tons of plants out there that would be very bad to consume, and they are natural!

And Jamba Juice tries to make their stuff seem like health food, when it’s sugar on top of sugar on top of sugar.

Cool. Didn’t mean to come across as preachy.

No worries!

ok, but what I dont get is: why not blend it? why not eat: a carrot, some kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, some emon and mint and an apple. just create this “food shake” (since grinding/blending seems so necessary), and drink it?

I found an open source, off the grid version-

But I do like the milled parts in the juicero. When they stop making the pouches, maybe I can get one and make something interesting out of it.

A lot of people do blend their juices, people who get really really particular about it though dislike blending because the action of blending incorporates a lot of oxygen to the end result which can affect the nutritional value, also if one has a high powered blender it can also heat up the juice to some degree which some also see that as a negative. Certain juicers have mechanisms that work much much slower which keeps heat down and oxygen acting on the juice to a minimum. Personally i don’t care, just saying that for certain people these are factors that they consider.

Cuz to some of us a thick fruit/veg “shake” sounds disgusting. I am literally gagging right now. /shudder

Smoothies are gross!

I don’t mind it as long as it’s not gritty

Try adding more water, if you blend things with a hardier texture with more water you end up with a smooth frothy drink that might be a little viscous but not gritty. I felt the same as you until I had “juice” in Asia and it was just blended fruits and vegetables with more water. Even now at home I avoid leafy vegetables like the plague in a juice, but I love beets and something like plums (no skin).

I’m good thanks.

I like carrot/apple/ginger or fresh orange juice, but beyond that I’m just choking it down.

“Some People are weird, and have hangups that reflect that.”

I think there’s legitimate reasonings for wanting to make juice one way vs the other. Either way it’s not for me to judge how others want to ingest their food, God knows i eat like shit as it is :stuck_out_tongue:
