The Lincoln Project was formed in late 2019. Several of the individuals behind the project were formerly associated with the “least bad” elements of the Republican Party; for example Steve Schmidt and John Weaver were major players in John McCain’s campaigns. George Conway and Rick Wilson have been very vocally anti-Trump for some time. None of these people are folks I’d consider political allies, but they’re pretty darn far from the worst the other side has to offer.

They talked about doing that with their first video, but I hadn’t seen anything from them suggesting it was a strategy that were continuing with the rest of them. But specific phrasing in some really gives away that they’re intended to get under Trump’s skin.
