Whoa - brutal.
I love it.
The only thing that disgusts me about this video is that it took a Republican group like the Lincoln Project to do it. The Democrats are apparently being paid by their oligarch masters to take a dive, which helps to explain their candidate.
Not that the Democratic candidate makes a difference. I would literally vote for a boil on Biden’s ass over Mass-Murdering Traitor Trump.
They seem to have left out this part:
“More now on President Trump’s conversations with Xi Jinping. Mr Bolton says Mr Trump told China’s leader that Americans were keen for him to make the constitutional changes needed for him to serve more than two terms.”
“One highlight came when Xi said he wanted to work with Trump for six more years, and Trump replied that people were saying that the two-term constitutional limit on presidents should be repealed for him,” he wrote in an extract published by the Wall Street Journal.
“Xi said the US had too many elections, because he didn’t want to switch away from Trump, who nodded approvingly.” -BBC
I’m not happy with the Lincoln Project, and the other new Republican groups getting out the vote for Biden. And I’m more upset with Democrats who are donating to them, thinking they’re helping. THEY’RE NOT HELPING. They are getting out Republican voters who may or may not vote for Biden, but who are most assuredly voting for down ticket Republican Senators and Congresspeople. That is not helping at all. Don’t retweet or refacebook (or whatever it’s called) their videos. Don’t donate to them. DON’T HELP THEM.
Agree. I wonder what the calculation is. Either Biden’s team and Democrats want to keep the tone positive for fear of alienating the Obama/Trump voter, or they are saving ad bucks for later. I like this coming out now because with Trump’s favorable ratings going down, this (maybe?) will add some weights to the chains on his legs. And I like it better coming from Republicans, it’s harder to just dismiss as “all politics”. Though, of course, the headlines they highlight are all from so-called “elite” sources (i.e., actual journalism).
I feel like these ads are designed to infuriate Trump more than to reach an audience. Calling him a dog is something that he famously can’t abide, judging by how he uses the comparison as his most damning moniker for others.
I find the ads ridiculous but of course they aren’t for me. I imagine they work on their intended audience, whether that’s the average republican voter or Trump himself.
Actually now that I think about it the plan with the “dog” insult is probably to get Trump to complain about them and Streisand them into mainstream consciousness.
Agreed. This “dog insult” is a “dog whistle” to an audience of only one dog: the Dotard, himself.
I hope that it bites his ass deep and hard enough to make him yelp…
…like a dog!
It is probably worth rememinding ourselves periodically that however much we might like seeing republicans turn on one another, these are not good people.
Then they’re not getting their money’s worth, since Biden’s lead keeps growing:
The Lincoln Project is literally pummeling the orang turd with their ads.
…
The DNC, not so much.
They’ve done quite a few ads, but yeah, I feel like maybe half the Lincoln Project’s ads are being overtly made for an audience of one - Trump (that “begging like a dog” bit gives it away). This was absolutely true about the first one they made - it aired on television only on Fox in Washington DC, so Trump would see it, get upset and tweet about it. (The result being that they got a lot of donations.)
Keeping their powder dry and not going with negative ads are both valid strategies for the Democrats. Especially right now, as Trump is absolutely destroying himself, even without any outside help. Having Republicans be the negative ones is advantageous, too. Silence on Biden’s part is actually smart right now. The Democrats still might screw things up closer to the election (oh, who am I kidding - of course they will), but right now, doing nothing is working.
I’m ok with this. I’d rather the Republican infighting cause the snake to eat itself instead of the DNC going negative this early in the game.
A reminder that these “oligarch masters” you speak of are the Democratic primary voters, who preferred Joe Biden to all the alternatives.
Over here we call it the small target strategy.
You might be surprised to see that several of their ads also target those down ticket candidates. For example:
The last two lines of their mission statement reflects an attitude all too lacking in both parties:
" Defeat President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.
We do not undertake this task lightly nor from ideological preference. Our many policy differences with national Democrats remain. However, the priority for all patriotic Americans must be a shared fidelity to the Constitution and a commitment to defeat those candidates who have abandoned their constitutional oaths, regardless of party. Electing Democrats who support the Constitution over Republicans who do not is a worthy effort."
You don’t have to call them friends. But they might not be the full on enemies you believe they are.
This is a repost:
Rick Wilson has been pretty upfront about this. They are booking the ads during Trump’s favorite shows on purpose. They’re also getting more for their money now that big advertisers are avoiding some of the Fox News shows. Their fundraising is targeting running the ads where they think they’ll do the most damage, but job 1 seems to be driving trollies Trump.
I’d just love to be a fly on the wall at the Conway residence these days. Either it’s as cold as ice there, or KellyAnne is Anonymous and has a burner phone with WaPo on speed dial.
The Lincoln Project’s goal is to save the Republican Party by getting Trump and his worst enablers out of office. The DNC’s goal is to elect Biden. Their interests and liabilities here are closely aligned but not identical, so it’s not surprising that they would choose slightly different ad strategies.
It’s a great ad only when I imagine Trump watching it and having a meltdown.
The Lincoln Group are a bunch of assholes that got us in this position in the first place by helping to create the same type of ads attacking DEMOCRAT candidates for all of their careers. They are a significant reason that the Republican Party is now Cult45–an anti-truth, white nationalist, authoritarian personality cult comprised of morons. They brought the hordes into it over the years by encouraging them to support candidates who question facts and reality and more importantly, attacking the candidates who believed in the actual things that they claim to hold dear. So, fuck them.
They have also played a significant role in corrupting the Democratic Party and pushing it EVEN farther to the right and turning it into the new “woke neoliberal” Democrat/Republican amalgamation where George W RepubliCons can feel comfortable and use their connections to big money to make it even more pro-corporate and the leadership welcomes these conmen and women in with open arms. Just turn on msnbc sometime, it’s these assholes telling the stupid democrats who rely on cable news for political advice (of which there are apparently many, I was shocked and saddened to discover) to vote for right-wing, pro-corporate Democrats. So, once again, Fuck Them!!
