The new Ghostbusters trailer is awesome

You need to watch Gilmore Girls. Actually, everyone does.

You can’t make the same cake you ate 27 years ago using the old recipe when what you have are different ingredients. You can still make a cake that reminds you of the first but it needs to be made differently.
Comedians should be allowed to play to their strengths rather than trying to play a character that does not suit them. Similarly, the comedic dynamic of a group is dependent on the comedians involved. Trying to force an artificial dynamic would only come off as tired.
Then again, why even be concerned? Do you have money riding on this? Any skin in the game as they say? Or is it that you have fond memories and feel like these women are going to upset your past by doing things differently? Honestly, I can’t imagine what would motivate anyone to concern over a remake of a comedy that hasn’t seen the light of day in 27 years because it might just be too goofy.

I might be interested, what kind of cake?

Me too. If it’s yellowcake and it is not a lie, I’m in.

Pretty sure you can buy it in Niger? Probably a little more than 27 years old, though.

It’s probably a bad sign for a movie when vast improvements to the trailer are primarily a result of removing most of its content.

At least he got the best line in the movie.

My Daughter and I are really looking forward to seeing this movie. She has already asked if I would help make her a proton pack for Halloween this year. Being a huge fan since I was 4, and making several of my own proton packs in my lifetime, of course I will.

What’s also great about this movie is that it gave me an oportunity to teach my 7 year old son a little bit about gender equality. He was referring to the new characters as “Girl Ghostbusters”. I helped him understand they’re just Ghostbusters. The original Ghostbusters just happened to be all guys, but they’re all just Ghostbusters.

Oh, if only John Belushi hadn’t died. Then we would have had TWO intellectuals in the original GB…

Looks like you missed the scene where she exorcises a ghost from her teammate without even using any of their fancy gadgets.

Like mobile, Big Data and cloud computing.

Reaching a bit here but we don’t know what happened right before. Could be her teammate got hit with some gizmo and ‘it needs some kind of adrinaline surge to work.’

‘Hang on I got just the thing.’ five across the face.

That takes me to an interesting point: in Russian, the title of the original movie was translated as “Охотники за привидениями” (Ghost Hunters). Now, the nuance here is that there’s actually a feminitive for “hunter” in Russian (“охотницы”), but it is NOT used for the new movie, so it has the same title as the old one. You would think that hints at gender equality, if only Russian feminists didn’t make a big thing of many occupations (like “author” or “blogger”) having no neutral feminitives (“авторша” и “блоггерша” sound kinda derogatory) and inventing new words, like “авторка” и “блоггерка” to remedy the situation.

English got rid of “authoress” some time ago.

I was thinking and thinking about my earlier comment on “new technology”, and I thought that the biggest difference is that the original movies were from the pre-Internet era. In modern times, the scientist lady would publish here research online, so everyone can bulid their own ghostbusting equipment. Here we have the comical exchange where one girl says: “But won’t we have less business now?” and the scientist girl answers: “No, we will do tech support”.

The minority stereotype would be an Indian girl with a background in tech support. In the trailer, she nonchalantly tells “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” to a customer having troubles with a ghost trap.

There would also be a subplot concerning copyright to some of the technologies belonging to an earlier team of Ghostbusters, culminating in a trial against a horde of ghosts who somehow also infringed on the rights.
