I would take a pass on any Morrissey appearance. However, if The Smiths toured with Rick Astley in his place I’d be there for sure.

Saw him (Ivor Cutler) once at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. A lifetime highlight for me. One of those gigs that shifts you slightly at right angles to reality for a few days.
Last night I saw Johnny Marr with James opening.
When James was doing their set, an audience member brought a Kamala t-shirt and placed it on the edge of the stage. James’ singer Tim Booth looked at it, and laid it out on one of the stage monitors so everybody in the audience could see it to wild applause in response. Tim then said something like, “well, it looks like I just alienated half of the Morrissey fans here.”
That was a great moment. (As for Marr, he was fucking amazing.)
ETA since this is a Johnny Marr topic, here’s a snap I took of him demonstrating proper guitar technique:
He did some wild shit on How Soon Is Now during the solo near the end where he was tweaking the tuning knob back and forth on his E-string as he was playing it. I’ve seen many legendary guitarists in my lifetime, and I’ve never seen anybody do this before.
This makes me so happy. I’m going to the Philly show on October 11th and I am giddy with excitement.
Or this guy!
Imagine if Morrissey was really Irish and nothing whatsoever like Morrissey!
It was incredibly good. My only gripe was it was over too soon. Both James and Marr played 75 minute sets. I wanted more!
