Too soon is now?
I can’t really blame him. Morrissey has become a little bit loathsome. And the very fact that he wanted to milk fans for another hits collection goes against something he used to be passionate about. Shame. Still, seeing them on the Meat Is Murder show at the Brixton Academy (right up against the stage) was an amazing experience.
Their’s Is A Fight That Never Goes Out
(but Team Marr)
Yes, Heaven knows he’s a miserable git now.
Add me to that list!
How Morrissey’s Far-Right Babbling Is Costing Him
Morrissey is anti-immigrant and backs a white nationalist political party. Why don't fans care?
Morrissey reaffirms support for far-right party and claims 'everyone prefers their own race' | The Independent | The Independent
Marr sounds like he’s being a supremely decent person on the trademark issue despite Morrissey acting – as he typically does – like a complete arsehole. He’s certainly under no obligation to perform with the nasty bigot.
Morrissey isn’t acting like a complete arsehole, Morrissey is a complete arsehole.
*Nazi bigot
I was right up against the stage at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia for the Meat Is Murder tour. Did Billy Bragg open at the Brixton show? We got on stage during the encore and danced around to Barbarism Begins At Home. Definitely a core memory for me.
Why would one even be considered?
Andy Rourke is dead. We all know what an insufferable asshat Morrissey is. Marr tours with his own band and plays mostly Smiths songs already. (In fact, I’ll be seeing him perform this Saturday.)
Maybe if Rourke was still alive and/or if Morrissey hadn’t spent the past 3 decades shitting on The Smiths’ legacy and being a racist scumbag, I could see the possibility of a last hurrah kind of tour. With neither of those things being true, Marr seems to have too much integrity to join forces with Morrissey just for a quick buck.
And let me tell you, as a long time devotee of The Smiths, it really sucks to have to qualify that statement with, “yes, I know Morrissey sucks now” every damn time.
I saw the Smiths here, with about 50,000 others.
There was a rightwing attack during the Redskins set (often was); missing from the poster are mighty, mighty Aswad and a mobile French saxophone band spraying foam from their truck.
Ivor Cutler stands out from the line-up
Sadly he was a bit lost due to the crowd size/PA limitations, he was much better in smaller, intimate venues.
I grew up such a huge fan of the Smiths but it was pretty clear by at least a decade ago that Morrissey has spent too much time up his own rear end. The interview he did on Cobert’s old show was just amazing. See approximately 2:20-3 min.
thank you, Yoda.
