Can confirm. We can sometimes find pesto in a tube (which my Swedish friend tipped us off to), and it lasts longer in the fridge than the jarred variety.
Yes. They are designed for that. We have used them for peanut butter, which tends to escape from screw-top jars.

Are these not a thing in America? I’d have thought that squeezable food was just the thing for the USA. I certainly had these as a kiddie in the UK; but that was the 1970s, and the past is a strange country.

My kids were babies when the squeeze-pouch baby foods became a thing. They ended up being a bit wasteful, expensive and a crap-shoot for whether my kids would eat them. We were pretty psyched when a company finally developed a decent re-fillable ones. They had a ziploc side and a screwtop and were pretty easy to clean and store. I ended up finishing up a lot of uneaten yogurt and it seemed handy and tidy, but it never occurred to me to seek out adult- targeted tube foods…

Not really a thing in the US. Thinking back, I can recall seeing anchovy paste, garlic paste, and tomato paste sold in tubes in the Imported Foods aisles, though my family didn’t buy them.
It looks like Muir Glen (a brand of organic tomato products from California, now owned by General Mills) sells tomato paste in a “tube” these days, and it appears to be more like a juice pouch than a tube. It’s for sale at Target, but I don’t see it on Muir Glen’s own website…

Yeah, that’s about the only thing we have in tubes here, unfortunately, I like the form factor and convenience, there isn’t much else that would be well served by being stuffed in a tube.
Tomato paste and anchovy paste in tubes are easy to find in my local grocery stores (Deep South US city with a lot of “outsiders”), usually in the “international” section.

I can’t speak for every family in the US, of course, but when I was growing up, the mainstay was tomato paste in cans. Tubes were the fancy, expensive thing found in the imported/foreign food section, if at all.

Nowadays, of course, the whole world is more available to us, and as @Wayward indicates, more things are coming in new packaging now.
Here in Maine, pretty rural state, we can get tubes of tomato paste at the grocery. Also anchovy paste. And those herb things @anon3072533 (oops! I mean @Wayward) posted a photo of.
Lately it seems like they reorganize the store shelves every 3 months, so I’m not sure where those tubes live, in the international aisle or the canned/preserved tomatoes aisle, or somewhere else, but they’re always easy to find.
