As I recall the shootout was between two violent, lawless gangs. One of the gangs just happened to have badges.

Trump will run for president, even if he’s been arrested, convicted, and sent to prison for treason and/or sedition. He has to, as at this point he probably sees that as the only way he’ll ever get out of prison before dying of old age. Frankly, with only about 2 years to go, there is no way a full on trial would have finished, exhausted its appeals, and closed off the possibility of a presidential run in time, so there may not be a way to stop him from running.

I just read the wiki page, kind of interesting, the “Cowboy” gang got quite shot up the Earp posse less so but interestingly at the time sympathies were more mixed than the hero narrative in the films. Earps had a vendetta and probably weren’t exactly disinterested people enforcing the law.

Oh sure! The history of westward expansion and the Indian wars are highly white washed, of course, to make it seem like there were white hats and black hats, when it was lots and lots of grey…
Yeah, these positions could and often were highly political.
But of course, the jackasses running that shop don’t know that, and they totally buy the movie narrative of old west and the heroic men taming it as the real history and see themselves in the same light. But they just want to see people they don’t like get hurt…
