Obviously racism is at the root of much of this type of behavior, but I’m also super curious why so many middle aged white ladies are so angry? So ready to explode all the time? As a middle aged white lady myself I’m curious if anyone is researching this phenomenon? There was a post the other day with a woman bullying a skate boarder who was white, so it’s not just racism, or maybe not always racism.
I don’t think there’s a genetic component to just being an asshole.
I try to focus less on “why” someone is acting a certain way and more on “How can I make sure I never have to deal with this idiot again?”
Because a lot of them are starting to realize the little bit that separated them from the (insert derogatory term here) was white privilege, and that’s starting to get questioned, and places like Faux news are letting them know they need to be angry about it.
Stop trying to make it a “thick” or “thin” question! The point is, IT WASN’T THE RIGHT THICKNESS!
Just like this woman, who is clearly as thick as pigshit. A completely wrong thickness.
I can’t imagine having the kind of life where a sliced tomato is capable of getting me maniacally angry.
Judith Ann Black… “Shut up you black bitch!”
It is always projection with these people, isn’t it.
Only if it is organic, artisanal perspective!!!
Good luck trying to speak to the manager in jail!
Borger King?! I sentence you to an eternity with Caleb T Maupin in the Eyeball Zone; unless you pay me da maaahney!
I’m assuming you were making a Thought Slime referrence; if not…
Elder is a dangerous title to bestow.
I think Fox News might title this: “Yet more Black on Black violence.”
(forgive me. I couldn’t resist.)
Going to be interesting seeing how her attorney tried to minimize this.
Trying to make this stuff look like a rose when it is fresh plucked out of a septic tank is not going to be easy.
"My client was concerned and wanted to ascertain if the farm workers who harvested that tomato were being paid a fair wage and she felt her demand for social justice was being ignored.
you got it, goo gang
The rage is understandable after half to 2/3rds a lifetime of putting up with male (mostly white) bullshit, but the angrily racist part is baffling. I’m sure, as @anon77190095 points out, it’s a perceived eroding of white privilege at work. Some white people cannot comprehend that more rights for not-white people does not mean less rights for white people - it’s not a zero sum equation.
Let me guess. It was Florida Man’s mother.
sigh
We boomers were the war protesters during the Viet Nam war. We marched, we created a ruckus, we wanted a better world.
WTF happened to us?
A tight-knot community of self-isolated ignorant fearful throwbacks. That pretty much describes M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village and the one in Florida.
You got complacent and let Reagan take over.
I think the tomato slice tirade was really just her way of expressing outrage that a Black person was involved in preparing and serving her food.
