Thin-skinned Iowa lawmaker hangs up the phone on reporter who asked about his "anti-coddling" bill

I am appalled at the way higher education has been commercialised. In the days of free tuition, if you fouled up exams or something of the kind, you had the annoyance of having to do an extra year. But now there’s vastly increased debt as a consequence. Therapy and counselling services seem to be the inevitable concomitant of what I can only describe as the exploitation of the young. It amazes me that they tolerate it. OK, I’m an old British lefty, but why the young and the working class - and many formerly middle class jobs have been helotised - don’t rise up and string the billionaires up from lamp-posts I don’t understand. You would think one of the exploiters or their cheerleaders would realise that providing comfort theatre might delay the revolution.

CO: Sorry — just a minute — who are the buttercups that need to suck it up?
BK: Well that would be people that are simply hysterical because an election was lost.

In all honesty, my uterus is part of what has me worried.

A shitbag here in Washington State wants to make disruptive protesting a felony.

Might as well make it official. Their friends in the for-profit prison industry were getting nervous after all the pot legalisation.

Or the dredges of humanity who hate “political correctness” and are always so easily offended.

Two things:

The commercialisation of higher education has a side effect- debt peonage makes protest or nonconformity an expensive proposition for anyone considering it

Also, uniting against the billionaire class requires people to unite, and a combination of a ruling class who are very proficient at playing divide and rule, and fake progressives who are happy to play along with the balkanisation make this rather difficult.

Truth doesn’t matter.
Foreigners doesn’t matter.

I was about to ask the same thing. I do notice people who are quick to denigrate the idea of “safe spaces” are the ones who completely flip out when challenged, and usually because they’ve been challenged on their made up “facts.”

There is this, which I saw reported on the news:

It’s nothing to do with the election, just seems like a nice thing to do. I don’t see how this can offend someone.

I hate to tell you, but you’re about 180 years behind the English language.

That it would only apply to state schools is most probable, but I’m no lawyer. However, I would not be surprised if he’s specifically going after the progressive activist students at Grinnell College, a private liberal arts school. It’s just the sort of place where a professor would seriously float the idea of bringing in a miniature pony, and is a little over an hour’s drive from Kaufmann’s district. (Full disclosure: I went to school there, and omg mini-pony sounds amazing!)

What’s the chance this is connected to Parks & Rec?

Edit: B/c Little Sebastian. This Iowa “lawmaker” apparently hates little horses like LS. Well fuck him right in the temple.

What’s next? The new morality, of course.

Didn’t that begin about 25 months ago?
