Okay, is this a comedy bit, or where doors a new concept in 1979 Finnland?
Also the fellow in the video is dapper AF.
As someone who has been trapped in a room since 1979, I’d just like to say a big ‘thank-you’ to whoever posted this valuable instructional video to YouTube.
I’m free! Dear God, I’m free! Finally free!
When I was learning to code, the class did an exercise. One person was selected to carry out the “code,” as the class gave instructions on walking to a door and opening it. Poor guy bonked his noggin a few times!
The technique demonstrated in the video ends with the entrant facing the door after entering, back turned to any possible room occupants. This provides any occupants the opportunity to shout a warning before they’re viewed. Also, the entrant is perfectly positioned to exit should that prove necessary.
That’s for tripping up peikkoja. It’s in the Finnish equivalent of Feng Shui, I always forget the name.
Love the spin move while going over the threshold.
You mean Cop-stache-Kiefer-Sutherland? Yeah, he certainly knows how to open a door elegantly, doesn’t he?
“Finland, Finland, Finland…the country where I quite like to be!” you will NEVER be able to convince me that this door video wasn’t a Python skit. NEVER.
It’s interesting – yes, this is from a comedy program, but if you were trying to open the door a minimal amount, get inside, and close it, like when it’s really frigging cold, as it certainly is at times in Finland, this is the way to do it.
It is put there intentionally? Wow. Now I’m happy my recent planned trip to Helsinki was derailed by Covid, I’m not sure I would have survived.
