I found this eraser and got one for me and my kid. It is a slender edge shape and good for making small eraser marks.

I thought the same thing when I saw it!
It is a bit odd holding a flat stick, but I think it does a good job. Replacement erasers are available.
When I saw the headline, I thought that someone had somehow adapted the technology of self-sharpening armour piercing ammunition and placed it in a pencil eraser. The actual solution makes a lot more sense.
