9/27/2010 when it hit 113F downtown. But like we southwesterners like to say, it was a dry heat. Stepping out of my office into the WB backlot, I remarked that it just felt like walking into the kitchen when someone’s been baking cookies all day. My tune would soon change if I actually had to do physical work in that heat, which I have done when I was younger.

Yeah, that sounds about right. It was autumn 2010, definitely. I went to La Brea that day.

The most I’ve seen is 52°C (AKA 123°F) at Kata Tjuta.
It was not the best of days to be wearing bike leathers and a helmet. Hooray for evaporative cooling.
