Dear _____

I am hoping that by now you know me well enough from class to be able to trust me.

I respect you.

I support you.

I want whatā€™s best for you.

If there were a rattlesnake under a pile of leaves on the path in front of you, Iā€™m hoping you could easily imagine that I would run out ahead of you to warn you.

If your home were on fire, Iā€™m hoping you could believe that I would try to help you get out.

Thatā€™s sort of whatā€™s happening now.

When you asked me to call your friends by masculine names and I started trying to do that, I was wrong. It was a lie.

I didnā€™t warn you about the rattlesnake.

I didnā€™t try to rescue you from your burning house.

I hope youā€™ll forgive meā€”and I want to ā€œturn things aroundā€ now.

And like I saidā€”Iā€™m hoping youā€™ll trust me.

I realize that what you feel is saying something totally different.

But feelings are like a mirage. You donā€™t dare trust in them to guide you. Theyā€™re not an accurate reflection of reality.

So what is the reality? What is the truth? How can you know the truth for certain?

Well, biologically, every cell in your body is :female_sign: ā€”femaleā€”feminine. Thatā€™s the bilogical truth. The same is true for your friends.

And itā€™s the truth that I want to encourage you to pursue. Thatā€™s what a good teacher does, right?

The DVD will explain everything more clearly than I canā€”the spiritual as well as the scientific facts. The candy is a symbol of the sweetness that hope and pray youā€™ll discover.

Immer Alles Gute!

Dein Deutschlehrerā€”Mr. H.

But Bruns says the above message was delivered in person on public school grounds and through public school email. The message indicates it accompanied a DVD conveying ā€œspiritualā€¦ facts.ā€ This teacher thus appears to have used his position in a public school to gain access to students and not only teach those students about a religion, something outside his assignment as a language teacher, but also encourage them to accept his own spiritual beliefs as fact.

So thereā€™s something here to set off everyoneā€™s alarm bells. Leftists can complain about Hilleslandā€™s failure to respect individual gender identification. Republicans can freak out over the candy and grooming language. And everyone who appreciates the healthy separation of church and state can ask why a public school teacher is being allowed to proselytize on school time.

Sadly Douglas Ross is woefully misinformed and confused on this subject, and is proposing an unlawful policy.

You donā€™t say.
And yet they persist in spreading all this transphobic rot.

I know that feeling all too well. I miss the days (not so long ago) when this thread was dormant for days at a time. Itā€™s getting nasty out there.

Same here. I also miss the days when links were about something shitty a TERF said vs the genocidal shit going on now.

Since leaving Texas in 2017 to avoid anti-trans legislation, Skyler has had recurring nightmares of being kidnapped and taken away by strangers, her mother says.
ā€”
Having spent so much of her childhood living in terror, Skyler said the fact is that she shouldnā€™t have to think about any of this at such a young age. ā€œI donā€™t want to have to worry about what state I feel safe in,ā€ she lamented. ā€œI donā€™t want to worry about moving out of a space that Iā€™ve just barely got adjusted to. I just want to live my life as a regular kid, but I canā€™t.ā€
