Wait, so if one is trans, but has not had gender confirmation surgery, then they are not trans? If one is not trans, I suspect having such surgery would be horrifying at best. Viola! Trans people don’t exist! A flat out evil position to take.
It’s also ahistorical. People had surgery before 1952; in Germany before the Nazis.
And people had going to antiquity and do still have trans related surgeries that aren’t the modern surgeries he is referring to. Hell - the surgeries performed today aren’t the exact same as the one performed in 1952. Thankfully. Knowledge progressing and all that.
I have seen that kind of thinking from the likes of the Daily Mail, so unfortunately it is a very real problem. They view transgender as something you become (therefore something that they can stop) rather than something you are.
It also removes the option of self identity, as some post operative people might not identify as transgender anymore as they no longer have dysphoria. Once they say you are transgender, then you are always transgender whether you want to be or not.
I don’t know if #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic. If people tell me that #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic, then #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic I guess. I don’t really care, because I just learned that he exists. Googling him tells me that John Boyne is a holocaust denier, but I personally don’t know if #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic or if he is just another holocaust denier.
So, please stop saying #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic when the reality is is that John Boyne is a holocaust denier. If it turns out that #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic, then #JohnBoyneIsTransphobic and is also a holocaust denier.
Now some underpaid flunky gets to set standards for “how womanly is womanly enough?” Nope, too tall, jawline too strong, too aggressive. Off to the mens shelter with you! What a fucked up timeline…
As always with this administration- the cruelty is the point.
They do seem singularly focused on trans women. I did not see reference to spotting men who were not “sufficiently manly.”
This is an issue that was resolved in most municipalities almost twenty years ago. To no ill effect. It’s not a question without data to support the outcome. They’re reiterating the comments from decades ago that were refuted then and have years of actual implementation to support them.
Facts? You cite facts? Oh, you sweet summer child…
Semi-sweet. Sometimes I’m sweet - and sometimes you wish that I were.
I think that Ben Carson’s wife looks a bit questionable. Let’s not let her in restrooms.
Also - they do realize that you can change your identity docs, passport & birth certificate? Okay - here’s your proof asshole.
Now I’m going to question all of your staff and make them show me proof. Seriously- we need to start a nationwide action to require every shelter worker to provide proof of their genital status.
Drop trou y’all.
One of the most onerous, expensive and intrusive name change procedures in the US. In a city with excellent trans inclusive laws otherwise.
WTF? That’s ridiculous. I wonder if there is some weird archaic law mandating all that. The publishing part, in particular, is something from a bygone era.
It was annoying to change my last name in Texas, but not anything like that. It was a lot cheaper too, $300. Then again, I may have gotten pushback from the judge at the hearing if it was a first name gender change.
Sheesh.
The having to get fingerprinted at the state police seems like the worst part to me.
To be fair - state law governs this. I did some research for Sen Farnese’s leg aide a decade ago about trying to change this - but the R’s control the leg.
Assholes.
Assholes, all the way down.
Could you all dogpile on someone else for a while?
