Implying that folks with Aspergers or ADHD are incapable of making their own medical decisions? Or only really specific medical decisions. Or, and I think this is the most likely path, a first (and maybe even unintentional) step to making neurodivergent folks non-human and subject to elimination just like LGBTQ+ folks. Very Third Reich-ish, mien herr.
Lawsuit fucking city; every non-neurotypical person and advocate needs to pay close attention to this shit and fight like hell, sue the fuck out of them.
We have a similar local newsprint magazine (mostly rural, some suburban-like housing tracts) and every single cover family Iâve seen over a number of years now has been a white husband/wife family with at least one child. At least half of the time theyâre all dressed in white, which seems a little on the nose. The most recent one didnât include the fiance of one of the âchildrenââŚbecause heâs not yet part of the family, or because heâs Black? The world may never know.
I donât think we âofficiallyâ consider them a terrorist group, the way Canada does.
But certainly putting her on a no-fly list for Canada could be useful.
Sheâs fully embraced Voldemort, hasnât she? Did she even read her own books?
This is a good example of the fine line between a traditionally âredâ state and one that has gone so far off the deep end that there seems to be no coming back: some of the Republicans in places like Indiana are still old-school, reactionary but not full-on fascist. Makes all the difference.
âYou pushed me to embrace fascism by existing!â
God sheâs become such an asshole⌠maybe she always was an assholeâŚ
Well, this is unfortunate. Not transphobia exactly, but not good news for trans people:
There has been a movement building up here in Canada to accept American trans people as refugees. However, this new law was just passed that basically says âif youâre from the US you canât be a refugee because the US is safeâ.
Of course, we all know the US is very much not safe for trans people right now, as evidenced by hundreds and hundreds of laws being passed to endanger us. Refugee status in Canada is not totally off the table, but itâs a lot harder now because youâd have to prove the US is so dangerous that this law would need to be challenged. I think that would be really hard for a trans person to do unless they had a lot of legal muscle and money behind them.
That said, the NAFTA VISA still exists, so regular immigration up here is pretty easy for Americans. Food for thought, if you need to escape. Canada has an immigration target of at least 500,000 people per year, and we grew the largest amount since WWII in 2022. So come on up! All are welcome and trans people are a protected class by federal law here. Anti-trans speech is hate speech here (which is illegal), and even defacing a pride flag is investigated as a hate crime.
Edit for more context on this law, because it a big change in Canada/US relations:
Itâs called the Safe Third Country Act and the intention is to prevent refugees from going to the US first, then trying to come up into Canada from the US. I donât know why we should care how people got here, but I think itâs more about appeasing the US because they donât like things like the Roxham Road migration back door in their system. I suspect they also donât like the idea that anyone would flee from the US.
This law has been under negotiation with this US for many years, entirely in secret because itâs bad optics for both countries, frankly. Canada has long looked the other way at unofficial border crossings used by refugees, like Roxham Road and any number of back roads in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The unofficial official policy has been to accept people as refugees with no questions asked when coming through these unofficial routes. The US has always hated this, though, and has been increasingly pushing to close their borders from both sides. They donât like poor people coming in or leaving.
Weâre not that far off from transgender purge days.
The nightmares of my school days are coming back for a new generation
no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party that inflicted those bitter experiences on me.
Nye Bevan
Weâre at stage 7 in Florida. Trying to get those lists of trans people from various institutions.
Also:
I donât know if they ever existed, but there ought to be federal laws against wasting government time and resources on persecution.
