Taking money earmarked for improving schools and spending it on guns.

I can’t think of anything which so typifies Republicans these days.

They want people stupid and armed.

Turn it around on DeVos. “You want weapons? We’re in a library! Books! The best weapons in the world! This room’s the greatest arsenal we could have - arm yourselves!” Spend the funds she approved for buying guns on real weapons.

This is a great idea.

Those teachers can then sell the guns and use them on the school supplies which they are normally not reimbursed for.

Normalize that a gun is needed to keep yourself safe by making every idiot have one.

I’m sure her brother’s mercenary outfit (whatever it’s called this week) will offer to facilitate the weapon purchase process in exchange for a “small” fee.

The damage that these grifters have done to the country in just one year will take at least a decade to undo.

Why not buy 3D printers for classrooms and teach kids how to print them for free and perhaps they learn something in the process. /exasperated sarcasm

Well, look at it this way, guns do tend to hold their value very well. Especially if you keep them new. They could just sell them for supplies? "¯\__(ツ)_/¯ "

Lemme guess, they found her on Amazon.

I’m honestly surprised Betsy didn’t suggest that we fill our schools with “security contractors” (a.k.a. mercenary soldiers) from her brother, Eric Prince.

Maybe Eric is selling guns also?

Teachers shouldn’t have to go through all that extra bullshit just to do their jobs properly; it makes much more sense to take the proposed money for this nonsense idea and buy actual school supplies.

(To say nothing of the sheer ignorance and stupidity of the idea of arming educators in the first damn place.)

of course she does, her brother is Erik Prince, you know Blackwater, private milita killed civilians in Iraq, trump wants to hire to replace troops with private soldiers in Afghanistan (illegal for the moment only thing stopping him)

and Prince is under FBI investigation for the meeting at Seychelles for trump

whole administration is wrapped in nepotism and will hopefully all burn in prison, or at least as many as possible, problem is it’s going to take years and then pence may pardon them all like ford

OH I completely agree it has gotten out of hand with the budgets. Its both public and private schools I’ve seen. I remember as a kid we had our personal list of stuff to get, but now they have a list for community items - copy paper, tissues, hand sanitizer, and bunch of other stuff.

Or just carry out an armed robbery at the nearest Office Depot!

It’s not just the budgets that are problematic here. The fact that some people think its actually a good idea to arm untrained civilians in a misguided attempt to ‘protect’ children from potential domestic terrorist attacks that are only possible in a gun happy society is highly fucking problematic.

That said, I’m not going to continue down this road with you, yet again; we’ve trod this path before, and we always end up at the same impasse.

Or attack one of the rich schools, and cart off the spoils.

War! … Huuuh…. What is it good for? Getting new computers! Good god!
