Yeah good luck with that. Any brief glimpse at asymmetric warfare around the world would make you realise that locals with handguns don’t stand a chance against a modern army. You do not take on an army in a firefight. That’s suicide for you and they’ll kill your family at the funeral too.
Only thing you have is IEDs. That discourages armies.
Indeed, but the myth that the Second Amendment confers a right to take up arms against the government is the reason why “Second Amendment solutions” means assassination.
To be fair snipers can get a round or two off. That’s about it for hand held firearms though
The Constitution might not mandate murder for exercising the First Amendment, but it does permit murder for exercising the First Amendment or anything else for that matter. Ask the Second Amendmenters who have successfully pushed “Stand Your Ground” laws through State legislatures. They’ll tell you that the entire purpose of the Constitution is to confirm the right of Good Guys With Guns to kill Bad Guys With or Without Guns–especially Without–without fear of consequences.
So? In a growing population with increasing voter engagement, that’s to be expected. Another way of looking at it is, 2016, 45 got 74 M people to vote against him and 84 M in 2020 ( vs Romney’s 68 M in 2012).
Private platforms are exercising the right to free speech by not allowing people they don’t want on their platform.
Should they tool up seeing as corporations are now people?
From I can tell they both like to dance for the crowd and neither likes to stand in the back quietly working.
If they actually try to work together I give them 12 hours tops before he “accidentally” grabs her boob and she shoots him.
Well that concept is well and truly dead. They had their shot to defend America from a tyrant and they supported him instead
If you want to laugh at these people and be dismissive about them, don’t. They are sitting members of congress and incredibly popular among their base. Greene alone raised over $3 million in her first 3 months in congress. Their words have power and weight, and a non-trivial amount of people are listening to them.
We need to take everything they say not as absurd ramblings, but as dangerous fucking words from dangerous fucking people – who are enabling and emboldening like-minded dangerous people.
Food for thought: Greene and Gaetz aren’t “taking charge” of the Republican party. They are already a part of the Republican party mainstream. They have become the Republican establishment. This means whomever comes after them will be even worse – which is something I can barely comprehend.
I think Greene has taken over the party. Watching Greene and McCarthy publicly spar recently, it seemed pretty obvious that Greene was the dominant one.
And they are working hard to get their MJT-like people inserted into those high places in swing states and remove the non-MJT-like people who are there now.
You just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Tastes like bile.
You’re not wrong. I just hate that you’re right.
Neither.
Yep.
I suppose they are the types who think “That isn’t going to happen to ME”, but the long term chance of survival (political or literal) for people this controversial and polarizing, historically, well, ain’t great. Left or Right, doesn’t matter. Once people start creating this almost religious level of fanaticism from one side and hatred from the other, negative outcomes happen.
I wondered if it had to do something with Victoria Jackson, and her post-SNL political activity e.g. during the Obama years. (Since then, I’m not sure if she’s been more quiet, or just getting less coverage.)
First iteration: 1/6. Second? Guess we have to wait and see. I am predicting the first criminal indictment against Il Duche.
