im not sure why witnesses mattered. the case was well made by the managers. if what they presented wasn’t going to convince anybody, nothing would have.
it’s not like there wasn’t enough evidence or that the republicans voted to acquit based on the evidence.
any house, senate, or criminal investigations can still proceed. to me at least it seems the dems did fine

I can be fine with moving on and getting to the step of a competent AG in office that can run investigations for corruption against Trump, Kutchner, Ivanka, and Miller.

because the reconciliation exception is only for bills that deal with budgets and taxes, not for anything else. and there is no way of finagling it to do so because the john lewis voting rights act is a matter of rights and moral reasoning which has nothing to do with the tax code.

While impeachment was a nice “feel good” exercise… Without hard evidence (ala the Nixon tapes) it was doomed to fail.
It MAY have served to tar a few senators, probably not. The American electorate has a VERY short memory.
