So are the following:

  • Climate change is real and caused by human activity.
  • Vaccines save lives.
  • Masks are a key to stopping epidemics, with no exceptions when in close quarters among strangers.
  • There is such a thing as white privilege.
  • The USA is a nation of immigrants.
  • Black people are more likely than others to be injured or killed during encounters with law enforcement.
  • George Soros and Bill Gates do not secretly control the entire world.

Talk to a Trump voter and see how much ground they’ll give on any of the above. Trump has been at war with the MSM since 2015 and it drives his voters. Whenever his base has had to choose between facts in the mainstream press and the “alternative facts” put forth by the Trump team, they have chosen the latter. Even with 200,000 dead. The default view of his base is that a difference between what’s said by Trump and by the press equals an attack on them with a goal to upend their lives.

Wow, Wallace is willing to abandon bothsidesism to deflect blame from himself! Not some great moral question or anything, I just sometimes get the feeling that bothsidesism is some sort of physical constraint for journalists media personalities, like an atrophied ligament or something.

If I had to guess, given the date, someone might have been speculating about Trump as VP, which would have put him against Biden in VP debates. Romney picked Ryan in August.

I mean, maybe if human civilization wasn’t on the line. Okay.

Off With His Head!

Thanks dRumph for coming to Cleveland. Surprised you didn’t try to set the river on fire.

They planned to have 16, but after scouring the entire nation they came up empty handed.

The good news is that since the sample size is 100%, the resulting stats are very reliable.

in many ways charles pierce is a national treasure. in his take on the debate is the following description of chris wallace’s performance that night–

“(A word here about Chris Wallace, Tuesday night’s moderator, who lost control of the wheel in the first five minutes and woke up battered at the bottom of a ravine 90 minutes later with no idea how he got there. . . )”

in fact, i’ll stop offering tidbits and just link to the piece. it is worth reading–
