Kind of surprised that QAnon lost. I expected them to be front and center. I never heard mention of “Deep State”. I guess some thinktank somewhere rated racists a higher priority than conspiracy theorists, but you’d think in an hour and a half Trump would have pandered to the pizzagate crowd some.

so true. i also felt like, if he was going to bother to engage with trump, then at least connect the dots for the viewers that just like with trump’s taxes, his healthcare plan, and the vaccine … it’s always just around the corner. just a couple of weeks away.
i mean it’s too in the weeds but the man hasn’t even gotten his big beautiful wall built.
it’d be laughable if it weren’t for the fact so many people have died, and so many immigrant families have been torn apart.
trump is only capable of breaking things. he’s got no clue how to actually build something up.

when people talk about “softball questions” it’s usually about setting something up for the candidate to do well at. but people, wallace included, keep thinking trump is a stable, normal person.
the expectation was, trump will knock this ball out of the park, right where it should go. instead, trump bats straight into the pitcher’s head.
there’s no way wallace should’ve expected any other answer, and honestly it was his job not to hand trump softballs that could be used to break democracy. on that front, wallace did a terrible job.
trump is very reactive. if wallace had given him the kind of setups for qanon as he did for the proud boys and voter suppression, i think trump would have pushed that instead.
