My debate prep: putting up this thread, and making a non-stupid bingo card. (I don’t drink, so “take a drink every time [a specific word or phrase is said]” drinking game won’t work for me.)
Also, I figure we may as well watch it in real time and live comment here… unless I hear a better idea. Please. Yes. A better idea is welcome. It’s gonna be difficult to watch as it is.
I’ll be getting together with friends to watch. We’ll probably talk over most of it. Woe betide anyone there who wants to pay much attention to the “debate”!
There’s pretty much no one this debate is going to sway either way. This is a show where both men are going to be trotted out, most likely with a few “energy drinks” each, and put on a little song and dance.
Biden should ‘win’ handily, as Donnie feeds off sycophants’ energy and recognition he’s so desperately looked for his entire life, and no audience means that’s not going to be there. If they don’t sneak an earpiece to him, I’d be disappointed…not that he’d listen to a word anyway.
The muted mics sound great, but we’ll see how they are used in practice. Realistically, if they released the complete question list right now, Biden would study and prepare using it and Donnie would dribble ketchup on it and demand more cheesypoofs.
Yes, both men are alarmingly old, but one of them has been leading the country pretty decently and the other continues to forget names on the daily of people, plus has more criminal and sexual convictions than any random 100 people you’d gather, which should be immediately disqualifying. He’s ‘please clap’ made into a living meme.
It might stop an interrupting opponent from being heard by the viewing audience, but they’ll still be audible to the person whose turn it is to speak. I could see Trump trying to work that to his advantage by making it hard for Biden to concentrate on what he’s saying, so from the perspective of the TV cameras Biden would seem absent-minded for no apparent reason.
If Biden is in focus like the last debate, when they turned to Trump supporters, and Biden was waiting for the moment, and passed Proud Boys to the moderator, who put it on Trump’s lips (even if Don probably wasn’t sure who they were), then I don’t think Trump will have much luck with distraction.
I would imagine that’s part of their debate prep. At least I hope so.
Still - someone can eventually get under your skin. Though Trump seems more likely to be easily triggered. And I’d bet Biden will do a little of pushing his buttons.
As my opponent, the convicted felon is having trouble understanding this - let me explain it slowly. Like you would to a child.

I passed a newspaper stand this evening and it had the English Times there and a big headline “Sunak Hammers Home Tax Point in Final Debate”, referring to a repeated lie as independently audited that they keep lying about. I suppose it’s better than the one online now…
Anyway my point is I feel for anyone who has to deal with that shit. My mental health improved when I put a filter on my browser (replacing pictures of him with kittens) and blocked him on Twitter.
